Intellectual Asset Management Ranks Gibbons Top IP Law Firms and Practitioners Worldwide
David De Lorenzi and Sheila McShane Featured as Leading Practitioners
(NEWARK – JUNE 5, 2013) Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) has named Gibbons among the top intellectual property practices in the current edition of IAM Patent Litigation 1000 – The World's Leading Patent Litigators. David E. De Lorenzi, Chair of the Gibbons Intellectual Property Department, and Sheila F. McShane, a Director in the Department, were two of the intellectual property lawyers featured as leading individuals for this area of practice. This is the third straight year this publication has recognized the firm and these two attorneys.
The publication noted the following about Gibbons:
New Jersey is the top forum in the country for Hatch-Waxman actions, an area in which Gibbons excels – it has recently handled important cases for Pfizer and Merck Sharpe & Dohme. With its specialist expertise and experience, it can always hit the ground running; this lack of a learning curve translates into significant time and money savings for clients. Out-of-state peers working with, and referring work to, Gibbons observe that "it knows the New Jersey environment, rules and judges extremely well". More than just a local player, it handles cases throughout the Mid-Atlantic states and in forums across the country. Sheila McShane is a popular choice among originators for her incisive contentious skills and is spearheading the firm's growth in the biologics patent litigation arena. With impressive range, the team also undertakes core strategic prosecution, licensing and litigation work for clients with patents across a wide variety of technologies. IP chair David De Lorenzi's practice reflects this diversity; he undertakes a mix of litigation, counselling and transactional briefs.
"This recognition, by one of the leading business publications covering intellectual property issues, validates our firm's approach to the scope and strategic growth of our practice," notes Mr. De Lorenzi. "Our lawyers have the industry experience and scientific backgrounds necessary to address, and even anticipate the huge range of IP concerns our clients can face."
IAM is the latest high-profile industry publication to recognize the firm as a leader in the IP arena. The Gibbons IP Department and its attorneys consistently rank among the leading practices in such publications as the Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Best Lawyers®, and New Jersey Super Lawyers.
